Ready, Set, GO

So here we are.  Unlikely vegans.  We decided to get our 30 something bodies into a much healthier state, and since The OCD kicked in and we were unable to just “make healthy choices” like normal people–we decided to go all in.  Vegan.  It’s been a roller-coaster since we made the change about 3 weeks ago, but way easier than we could have ever imagined.  Just so you know, it helps if you like vegetables.

I decided to catalog and journal our adventures into the vegan world, because we do feel like aliens in an unknown land.  I hope to share recipes that we’ve loved (or hated), trials, tips and tribulations.  To make everything all the more fun and exciting, our kids are also gluten-free.  Woo to the hoo.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope that you’ll come back even if you aren’t vegan and cheer us on!

  2. rachel Said,

My husband and I have been vegan for years(for ethical reasons), and our kids are as well. If you’ve yet to discover vegweb.com, it’s a great place to find recipes. Most of the comments are from folks who’ve been vegan a while, so their tastes may be a bit skewed as compared to someone just getting off real dairy products and meats. I think dairy products are the hardest to replace. There’s just nothing we have that can compare to real cheese. Anyhoo, I also like the cookbook “vegan with a vengeance” , and “vegan cupcakes take over the world” is fab as well(because baking is fun and cupcakes are superbly cute). Good luck!

  3. rachel Said,

Oh, also, theppk.com is another great place for recipes!

Awesome idea! I’ve wanted to start a food blog for a while but was afraid I wouldn’t have the time. Ha! I’m excited to follow along on your ‘vegan’ journey!

I’m going to add this blog on my new blog’s links! I’ll let you know when I’m up and running, and you can share the link love! Should be sometime this week. I’m just waiting for my new header! Yay!!

  6. jasmine Said,

Holy… I had no idea you’re a newbie vegan! Awesome. And that’s a pretty lofty head first leap you took going right for the uber-veg. I’m at eight months now but not quite vegan worthy - I still eat fish and the odd nibble of cheese when I. JUST. CAN’T. KEEP. MYSELF. AWAY. FROM. IT

Other than that, it was a pretty easy switch and I feel like a million bucks for doing it. You will too, you’ll see.

Congratulatons and good luck with journey.

  7. Mia Said,

I am a single mom, 31 yrs. old…my daughter is 7 and we are both newbie vegans. She is not quite vegan, yet, actually, but I am…i’m easing her into it.
I like your blog, I will be looking forward to more entries and helpful hints..congrats on making the change for the better.
