That is kind of misleading. People who are lighter in weight have a lower bone density on average than heavier weight people who have the same activity level.
So they could be simply be seeing the result of being lighter in weight.
Being heavy or doing weight-bearing activities including jogging (the jarring you feel in each step is a weight bearing activity) helps increase bone density.
