Breastfeeding Vegans

If you want to raise your child vegan, would you breastfeed him/her?
My boyfriend and I have been debating this. I would want to raise my kids vegan but I would also absolutely want to breastfeed. I think the point of being vegan is to abstain from the exploitation of animals. Since they can’t consent to give you their milk, then you shouldn’t take it. But since I obviously couldn’t be exploiting myself, I think it would still be vegan. My boyfriend says that being vegan means not using animal products and since humans are animals, vegans don’t drink breast milk.
What do you think?
(I’m not pregnant or breastfeeding by the way, just a hypothetical question)
Veganism is almost always for reasons of kindness to animals, or for health.
As others have mentioned, breast feeding does not exploit animals in any way. Humans ARE animals, but you’re obviously not exploiting yourself.
If you want to raise him/her vegan for health reasons, then you should still breast feed. Drinking cow milk can be unhealthy for humans, but your own milk is MEANT for your children. The body produces milk because it’s MEANT for your offspring.
You should absolutely breast feed your child. Because it’s not about the label “vegan.” It’s about health, and kindness to animals, both of which you would be promoting by breast feeding.
