Can Vegans Have Bread

can vegans have bread
Is this a good vegan grocery list?

I’m very new to veganism, but I’ve made a grocery list since my wonderful mom (^_^) is taking me to go grocery shopping in a few days. Can (vegans only please) tell me if this is a good list?

vegan multivitamin
Raw sugar
Unbleached flour or whole wheat flour
Apple cider vinegar
Yeast flakes
Turmeric
Firm tofu
Vegan Mayonnaise
Soy sauce
Vegan peanut butter
Nutritional Yeast
Flaxseeds
Whole wheat bread
Wheat bagels
Van’s vegan waffles
Unsweetend applesauce
Rice
Mixed Nuts (almonds, cashews, pecans, peanuts)
Hummus
Whole wheat pita bread
Vegan burger patties
Vegan taco crumble
Rice Dream
Kashi cereal
Cauiflower
Vegetable Chips
Corn Oil
Spices
V05 soap, shampoo (they don’t test on animals)

I know it’s a lot but I have almost nothing vegan in my cupboards right now besides tons of fruits and veggies and soy milk xD
Thanxxx in advance ^_^

I don’t understand the “vegans only” bit, there are plenty of people out there who respect your lifestyle enough to want to help you, and who know enough about vegan and vegetarian cuisine to do so, without actually being vegan.

I understand you’re excited and that’s part of why your list is extensive, but I’d like to point out that a good vegan diet should consist of mostly whole foods, like fruits and vegetables, beans, and grains like brown rice, quinoa, etc. Actually, that goes for ANY good diet, not just a vegan one. So, props on including the cauliflower, rice and mixed nuts.

Some other things you may want to add:

-A lot more fruits and veggies, like carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, peaches, spinach (baby spinach is great for salads). For convenience, you may want to include frozen veggies as well. They are really good in soups and are just as nutritious as fresh. They often don’t have as much sodium as canned veggies.
-BEANS and LENTILS. :-) Red small lentils are awesome because they cook fast and you don’t need to soak them. Green lentils also can be cooked without soaking, but take a little longer cooking. Beans I buy canned, for convenience. Black beans, kidney beans, white beans … all are great!
-Olive oil and fresh lemon juice, it really makes one of the best salad dressings out there, and you can even use it to replace the dressing in salads that call for mayo. Cheaper and more natural than vegan mayo.
-Balsamic vinegar. Instant flavor to anything. I greatly prefer it to apple cider vinegar, as it needs less oil to mellow out the flavor.
-Fresh herbs. Summer is a great time to incorporate goodies like parsley, dill, mint, tarragon, green onion etc into your foods.
-Corn tortillas and corn chips (make sure they don’t contain lard). Corn is a whole grain, and these two things are great for small meals or quick snacks (especially with some salsa and vegetarian refried beans).
-Agave syrup. If you can find it, this is an excellent substitute for honey.

If I were you I’d steer away from “vegan specific” products. There are plenty of “normal” foods that are vegan, and if you get more of those then you have a greater chance of getting your family involved in a healthier lifestyle as well! That said, these are probably the best fake meat (vegan) that I’ve ever tried: https://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10052&catalogId=1&productId=361027 You (and your family) won’t miss regular meatballs!

EDIT: Just read that you have “tons” of fruits and veggies. Sorry for the mini lecture! Oh, btw, consider getting some dried fruits for snacking, too.
