Can Vegans Have Pets

can vegans have pets
Can a vegan be a vegan but eat eggs from pet birds?

I am a strict vegan and have been for 5 years now and just pondering the views of others on this subject,I am giving a much needed home to several quail, now I was wondering how it would be if I ate the eggs would I still be vegan.
The birds will be pets given the best care and every need met,the eggs will never be fertile eggs and the hens will lay pretty regular and a natural product that the birds will produce.
I not saying I am going to do this I just wondered what everybody thought as its rasied varying ideas amongst my meat eating friends.
thanksXX

Well vegans don’t eat eggs or any animal products for more reasons than animal cruelty, but let’s not get wrapped up with labels. If you do eat them, then you’d technically be a vegetarian.

I know I don’t eat them not only because of the poor birds in factory farms, but because of their cholesterol levels of the yolks.

I suppose if you didn’t overeat them and always treat your birds well it probably wouldn’t kill you, as long as you don’t indulge too much.
