Charlotte Nc Vegans

Where can I get a tattoo in Charlotte, NC safely that’s uses vegan ink?
Anyone have suggestions?
I need somewhere safe of course, I don’t want to end up getting something from their needles
And what should I ask when I go?
I know in certain tattoo inks, bone-char [black] and glycerin [derived from animal fats] are typically used
I don’t want to just say “Is it vegan?” or something because they could lie just to have me as a customer
I could lie, lol, and maybe say I’m allergic to it? I don’t know
But I plan on getting three tattoos and needed to know a good place
Thanks for your help!
:]
You should know that not all glycerin is of animal fat.Brands like stable and starbrite have glycerin but they are vegetable based glycerin. To the best of my knowledge the ink you should find out if a shop has and uses is Eternal (best ‘vegan’ ink). It contains no glycerin. The chemist that created Eternal inks is the same chemist that originated the starbrite ink. Starbrite does contain glycerin but as I just stated it is vegetable based. All Stable inks are vegi glycerin carrier based as well except there new blacks. So if you find a shop that uses Stable ask that they use a black from Eternal. Not too many reputable shops use Stable anymore but you can find a few that use Eternal or Starbrite. You could also find a shop that uses Dermaglo. Dermaglo does seem to have a scent of listerine to it but I doubt it has any being the owner of this company is vegan also. Many shops use Dermaglo, it is a good brand of ink as well as Eternal.
What you could also do is maybe site down with an artist and ask if he minds you bringing your own ink in for the tattoo. Unfortunately many artists in the industry really have no idea what is in the inks they use. After all, the manufacturers of tattoo inks do not have to list there ingredients. I have been in this industry a very long time and have met many of the owner/chemists involved in making many of the inks available today and I actually make my own inks now. Sorry they are not vegan by any means.
Also, it is not just the inks you have to think about when getting a tattoo and you are vegan. But many brands of stencil paper use gelatin. Most shops tho, including mine, use Spirit Masters transfer paper which uses spirit gum as a base. Also you would have to make sure the razors they use do not have lubricated strips because we all know they contain animal fats. And of course you have to have something like Merry Hempsters Tattoo Balm for your after care or an unscented Alba.
