Fat Vegans

Is it still considered vegan if you cook a vegan dish using animal fat?
about a month ago I impressed my girlfriend by making her a vegan dish since she is a vegan even tho I am a meataterian.
And in the middle of dinner I was thinking and using lard to cook might not be considered vegan. But I kept it hush hush.
I am just making sure its still considered vegan right, and should I tell her?
why did you do that to her?
she is still vegan because it was not on purpose.
