DO they have vegan luaus in Hawaii?

If you use the word ‘Luau’ in the sense of a big blow out event with lots of food then yes.

A traditional Luau alwys features fish and pork, please note.

That said, the Krishna Temple in Honolulu has a Sunday Feast that everyone is invited to, however as good as the food is, and as devoted as the Krisnas are to being vegetarian, they do lard it up on sugars and so a steady diet of their food does lead to a pot belly.

Oddly enough, as wonderful as Hawai’i is, and despite a number of vegans etc, the vegan movement is a bit sluggish, that said there are several outlets here.

Also, and it should be said that I understand the concerns of Vegans and thus I am equally puzzled BUT – - – many Vegans here go to LUAS here with the idea that there are many non meat items being served and so they do not feel an overwhealming need for an out & out vegan luau. A luau will always feature a huge assortment of veggies and fruits and so vegans will attend ignoring the pressence of cooked dead animals.
