Lacto Vegans Diet

lacto vegans diet
why do people talk of meat as a balanced diet?

when i think balanced diet, i think of it having the right amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals. all of these can be obtained from a vegan diet (except perhaps B12) and most definitely from a lacto-vegetarian diet. so why do some people insist meat is part of balanced nutrition? it’s not.
Sean S,

Thanks your answer is sensible and honest.
sorry i’m not at Level 2 so i cannot thumb up anyone

It is part of a balanced diet. It’s just not absolutely necessary that you eat meat. Like you said, you can get nutrients from non-animal sources. Most people just choose to get their protein from meat because it tastes good and it’s what they are used to.
