Omnivores Vs Vegans

When you used to watch sesame street as a child…?
… and they put on the ” Its alive, it eats and breathes and grows skit ” Vegetables and Plants are listed as being alive. What is the difference between eating a cow or a carrot. They were both alive at some stage in their lives. Veganism for the sake of not killing animals is meaningless when you slaughter thousands of living organisms to make up the void you create by not slaughtering one cow. Are Vegans selfish?
I am not a vegatarian or vegan, I eat what is readily availiable to me. And frankly I’m sick of the herbivore vs omnivore debate.
The difference is in the central nervous system. Sure cells die all the time and cells are born all the time. But pain is unique to animals with a central nervous system. And not just physical pain, either. That cow you’re stuffing in your mouth felt the pain of slaughter and was terrified by it. The hormones its body released just before dying — the chemicals associated with terror — are injested into your body as well.
Sure you can say its nothing to worry about; big f-in deal. So what? Human’s are at the top of the food chain and we should act that way.
But consider this. The chemicals they inject cows with to grow fatter and produce 10 times more milk than normal are probably what’s causing us to grow fatter too and giving us diseases we don’t understand (cancer, MS, the list goes on). Some cultures believe that cutting out meat has a calming effect on the mind. While western science is still grappling to understand this, it has been proven in practice time and time again.
To make a long story short, science as we know it doesn’t have all the answers yet. But someday, sooner rather than later, we might discover that all the hormones they’ve been injecting in cows or chickens is what’s behind the surge in diabetes and other ‘mysterious’ ailments. They might find that yes, the terror chemicals left over in slaughtered animals does make our minds more restless. Until that day comes, the vegans/ vegetraians prefer to go with their instinct and not wait for science to tell them what’s good for them.
