Phoenix Vegans

Things to eat we can both agree on?

I am a vegetarian (no I don’t eat fish either) however not a vegan. I’m dating right now, but it’s always hard to go out to eat or even have home cooked meals. It grosses me out to see other people eat meat. So is there any places or things I can make at home that aren’t “freaky vegetarian” places/meals (phoenix area).. A lot of people get a little weird when I suggest going to a vegan restaraunt.

Happy Cow lists 11 veg friendly restaurants and 9 veg friendly stores (you can often get pre-made meals and hot meals there):

While Yelp has 18 plus three reviewer lists of their fave veg-friendly places:

Mid-Eastern/Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurants tend to have a lot of really good veggie selections to choose from (but check out the menus beforehand).

There are lots of good veg*n meals that can be shared such as a pasta with a yummy sauce from a basil/nut pesto to a tomato based one with lots of onions, basil, garlic, etc (use a short complex shaped pasta to give it more character and interest), with grilled zucchini planks as a side along with a fresh baguette dipped in really good olive oil. Or a Margherita pizza is also delicious. Finish up with a grilled peach for dessert.

The fact that it’s meat-free doesn’t even have to brought up.

However, if someone is unwilling to share even one meal with you that doesn’t have meat then take that as a sign to not waste your time that could be better spent elsewhere.
