Vacation in California, LA / San Fransisco, any ideas?

anyone know any fun spots for family recreation and/ or for food, hopefully local? Staying near LA but want to hang out in San Fransisco area. Also are there any good deals to go to LAX airport from ORD?

- Eat breakfast at Hobbee’s near San Francisco.
- Drive up and/or down the Pacific Coastal Highway
- Go camping at Big Sur
- Jog over to Lake Tahoe and / or go hiking at the Hot Springs just south of there.
- Take a walk through the coastal forests near or around San Francisco and look on the ground for Banana Slugs (they’re everywhere)
- Check out the man who sings about the people on the street in front of Borders in Santa Barbara.
- Avoid rush hour in/near L.A. It’s like getting caught in a spider web, and some neighborhoods you could end up in would be the spider.
