Vegans Eat Sugar

vegans eat sugar
Fellow vegans, do you eat sugar and honey and wear silk?

Why or why not? :)
I ask because a vegan website says on their FAQ page

“Many vegans, however, are not opposed to using insect products, because they do not believe insects are conscious of pain. Moreover, even if insects were conscious of pain, it’s not clear that the production of honey involves any more pain for insects than the production of most vegetables, since the harvesting and transportation of all vegetables involves many ‘collateral’ insect deaths. Many vegans, however, are not opposed to using insect products, because they do not believe insects are conscious of pain. I only use honey from native bees. This is for environmental reasons, not philosophical ones. In Australia the European honey bee has decimated the native bee population. They have diseases to which the native species have no resistance. They take over territory and the native bees and their “sugar bag” have been virtually removed from the landscape.

Sugar I try not too use much of for environmental reasons also. The farming methods are so damaging to the environment. The herbicides, pesticides and the burning of the crop all take a massive toll on the earth.

I am not vegan because I fear hurting an individual creature. I just realize that we will never save the earth as a whole while we continue to eat meat and its by products. Mass production of those things is simply too damaging. I have no problem with those who can hunt, fish or trap to provide meat for their own family. Not for trophies. Not for pelts. Not for reselling. Just for subsistence. That is natural. It is just not something I am good at doing!!

And who can afford to wear silk? LOL!!
