I need to eat more protein, iron and calcium….what should I eat?

I am a vegetarian. Kind of. I eat seafood. The only reason I am not a vegan is because as a teenager, it would make my parents and my friends and family’s lives pretty difficult. So basically I try to stay away from dairy/eggs/fish but I will eat it if necessary.

So basically I know I don’t get enough iron, calcium or protein because I don’t eat a lot of meat or dairy. I need foods that I can easily sneak into my diet that will nourish me because though I eat enough fruits, vegetables, whole grains, I definitely don’t get enough protein, iron or calcium. I take vitamins but that’s not really enough.

So what are some EASY foods I can buy or easy recipes my mom can make that will give me the nutrients I need to stay strong?

It would be better to research where nutrients come from, rather then to assume that you’re not getting enough of something. Protein is in everything, and unless you’re starving yourself you’re getting enough. Iron is in green vegetables, beans, whole grains (oatmeal, for example) nuts, seeds. Calcuim is in beans, seeds, green veggies and more.

It’s a common myth that the vegetarian diet is missing protein. It’s also unfortunate that we are taught from a young age that dairy is the main source of calcium, when this as far from true.
