I am balding because i’m vegetarian.. can i reverse this?
i became vegetarian about 6 months ago and i noticed that my hair was falling out- it had been anyway, but i’ve begun to notice that my hair has gotten a lot thinner and that its not growing back… a friend of mine who has been vegan her whole life with her family has just informed me that i can go bald because of the lack of nutrients. what vitamins should i take to stay healthy and can i do anything about my hair? i’m 17 female.
i also do not eat eggs
and i’m staying vegetarian thank you very much i dont care if you eat it i’m not ok? quit telling me to.
@Robot the woman i talked to about being a vegetarian told me almost immediately that i need to watch out for my hair. like i’ve already said she’s grown up a vegan and is very healthy and my hair used to be all over the place- its really thin…..
As you said it was falling out before you became vegetarian. You have had hair and scalp damage, which you stated in other questions:

“i’ve been messing with trying to make my really curly hair straight for years and nothing’s worked so far- its only made my hair dead. so dead that i ended up taking a fit and cutting it all off. i have about 2 inches of bleached-to-death hair and half an inch of virgin hair. my hair is a dark ash brown color… and i want extensions. i dont care if i do the braids and add the hair onto that or bonding- i just dont want tracks. i’m just wondering if i get straight extensions will my roots make then look awkward?”

“How can i keep my permanent hair dye from fading with a flat iron?
i dye my hair with permanent hair dye, but i also have to straighten it with a flat iron every day. after i take a shower i straighten it after it dries, but as i pull the straightener through my hair it pulls a significant amount of the color out with it
i enjoy the silver hair and after straightening it once its turned an ugly platinum blondish green yuck color. how do you keep the permanent hair dye from fading with heat?”

There is no lack of nutrients in a vegetarian diet where you’re eating enough food. Just eat well. Don’t live on cookies. Here’s information on vegetarian nutrition. http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/index.htm In their information, you can find a copy of the latest statement from the American Dietetic Association, which states, “It is the position of the American Dietetic
Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including
total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and
may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain
diseases.”
Stop messing with your hair, and see a doctor about restoring your scalp and hair to health.
